Despite taking a year off rowing to travel to France a few years ago,
Bryan Donnelly is headed to the Olympic Games as a men's eight crew member.
He started his rowing career on Shawnigan Lake near Victoria in 1991 and
was initially a lightweight competitor. After his trip to France he also
practiced the sport in Ireland and Calgary before returning to Victoria to
try-out for the national team. He joined the eights crew in 1999.
