This winter Karine Legault wasn't even sure she would compete at the
Olympic trials. Her training was not going well and she took a week off
and basically re-planned her training program. The towering swimmer
visited a nutritionist and lost 20 lbs.
"Gradually things started to get better," said Legault, who qualified for
the Games in the 400 and 800-metre freestyle. "But I told my mother I
didn't want to go to trials. I was so scared. Now I made it."
Her brother Hughes Legault was a member of the 1996 Olympic swim team in
the 50-metre freestyle.
