Canada's big centre Todd MacCulloch played a large role in helping his country qualify for its first Olympics since 1988. At the Pan Am Games, he led the tournament in rebounds at 13.8 a game and blocks at 3.3 and was also fifth in scoring at 16 points per game. He also led the Olympic qualification tournament with 9.3 rebounds per game.

  Of course he is best known for being a member of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. In his rookie season last winter he averaged 3.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game despite limited playing time. He was selected to play in the NBA All-Rookie game. In November, he recorded his first career double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds), in a 117-98 victory over Seattle.

  He was drafted by the 76ers after a standout college career at the University of Washington. He was a two-time first team All-Pac-10 selection (1998 and 1999) and was the only the second player to lead NCAA in field goal percentage for three consecutive seasons. He helped the U of W to the Sweet Sixteen in the 1998 NCAA tournament.

Sept. 19: Men: Canada def. Angola 99-54, raising record to 2-0 in Pool B.
Sept. 17: Canada def. Australia 101-90 in first preliminary round game.
