Go ahead, get naked. That's the message the Federation of Canadian Naturists is sending out in the hopes Canadians will join in a mass skinny dip on Saturday as part of a Guinness World Record attempt. "Skinny-dipping is an activity that most Canadians can relate to. But for most people, it has been limited to a nighttime experience in remote locations," the federation said in a release. "This event will give individuals, couples and families a chance to experience the joy and freedom of skinny-dipping in the sun as part of a large group. In addition, participants may discover what naturists have known for nearly a century — that communal nudity leads to greater self-respect, acceptance of others, and closeness to nature." Last year, 13,674 participants took a naked dip in 139 locations to set a record. The American Association for Nude Recreation, which is planning the event, hopes to top that this year. In Canada, there are eight locations where people can take part. They include Wreck Beach in Vancouver, B.C.; Crescent Rock Beach in Surrey, B.C.; the Helios Nudist Association in Tofield, Alta.; The Green Haven Sun Club in Balgonie, Sask.; Crocus Grove Sun Club in Patricia Beach, Man.; Ponderosa Nature Park in Puslinch, Ont.; Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in Sharon, Ont.; and Oka Beach, Que.
