Enjoy Vermont regardless of the season

By BOB BOUGHNER, QMI Agency

Visitors may know Vermont as one of the top destinations in the U.S. for stunning autumn foliage, but the northeastern state is a true four-season destination boasting a wide variety of recreational opportunities.

Vermont is world-famous for its winter ski season, which begins in November and can last as late as June, drawing 4.1 million skiers and rider visits in 2009-10.

Summer brings perfect weather for camping, biking or fishing in one of the state's 800 lakes and ponds.

The iconic Green Mountain stretch from the Canadian border through the centre of Vermont to neighbouring Massachusetts makes for scenic vistas any time of the year.

Vermont, the U.S.'s leading producer of maple syrup, is Discover America's destination of the month for November.
