The American agency that screens airline passengers says it followed proper procedure when it patted down a dying woman in what she described as an embarrassing and very public security check.

Michelle Dunaj, 34, has terminal leukemia. She is hooked up to feeding tubes because of organ failure and carries saline bags with her.

The Michigan woman was waiting in the security line at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Oct. 2, en route home from Hawaii from what she believed would be her final trip ever, KOMO News reported Tuesday.

Dunaj told the news channel that Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screeners made her pull up her shirt so they could check under her bandages, and that agents wouldn't grant her request for a private search, out of the view of other passengers. They also opened one of her medical bags, contaminating the saline fluid inside.

But the security agency denied Dunaj's claims. In a statement issued Tuesday and cited by KOMO, the TSA said it has reviewed the surveillance video of the security check and has determined screening procedures were followed.
