Germany's latest Michelin guide includes a new listing among three-starred eateries, La Belle Epoque in Lübeck, in addition to seven new listings in the two-star category and 29 additions to the list of single-star establishments.

Germany broke its historical record with a total of 255 restaurants earning at least one star.

The prestigious guide bestowed three stars on 35-year old chef Kevin Fehling's La Belle Epoque, located in Lübeck, in north Germany.

Thanks to this newcomer in the coveted three-star club, Germany ranks second in Europe in terms of three-star restaurants (10 in 2013) behind France (25).

The guide seems to suggest that overall, menus in the country have improved over the past few years: the number of two-star restaurants has doubled over the past two years, from 18 in the 2011 edition to 36 in the latest guide, dated 2013.

The guide now lists 4,073 hotels, 2,221 restaurants and 255 restaurants with at least one. Its release date is set for November 9 in Europe, priced at 29.95 euros.
