Concerns about hurricane season travel

I’m concerned about travelling in hurricane season. What are my options?

RT, Toronto, Ontario

Travellers can now travel secure as some tour operators, like Transat Holidays, have recently introduced a new Hurricane Policy, designed to protect you in the unlikely event that you’re faced with such a circumstance.

In fact, you’re covered just by choosing to travel with Transat Holidays: there is no cost to you and the coverage is automatically applied to all bookings made for travel between June 1 and November 30, 2006 to Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and St Maarten/St. Martin.

If a Category 1 or higher hurricane threatens your departure, you will be provided with a variety of options including selecting an alternate holiday destination, alternate dates or even a full refund.
Certain restrictions apply, so please contact your local travel agent for full details.

Answers provided by Louise Collignon, spokesperson for Transat Holidays.
