Rap superstars Jay-Z and Kanye West have turned a luxury suite at a top New York hotel into their personal recording studio to lay down tracks for their upcoming album.

The pals turned their backs on Jay-Z's studio and holed themselves up at the nearby Mercer Hotel this week to work on Watch The Throne.

A source tells the New York Post's Page Six column, "They took over at least one whole floor and moved in their equipment, which may have annoyed some of the guests."

The collaborative album is due for release later this year.
